United Way of Bucks County Honors ASI for Outstanding Efforts

ASI’s Carol Albright lauded for inspirational leadership

TREVOSE, PA – June 4, 2014 – The Advertising Specialty Institute^® (ASI) today announced the United Way of Bucks County has honored its senior vice president of human resources with a Multiplier Award for routinely going above and beyond and inspiring others to take action.

Carol Albright, an ASI employee since 1986, was honored for engaging employees in campaign fundraisers all year long, increasing company-wide awareness of United Way activities and for involving ASI’s Diversity Council in numerous community service activities. “There is no doubt that Carol is a standout,” the United Way said in announcing the award at its annual awards breakfast. “Carol empowers her staff and makes fundraising fun. Her leadership and commitment to teamwork have increased ASI’s giving and connected her team more closely to our community.”

ASI was also recognized with a Partnership Award for forming an “outstanding partnership” with United Way and with a Circle Award for increasing its campaign contributions by 20%. ASI’s annual goal is $25,000 in payroll deduction commitments, with the Cohn Family matching individual employee contributions. The Cohns have owned ASI since 1962 and are generous supporters of United Way of Philadelphia, along with many other charities.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Carol for inspiring our employees to get involved with United Way and for helping them understand how much their contributions mean to the men, women and children in need,” said Timothy M. Andrews, president and chief executive officer of ASI. “It’s easy to write a check – but it takes real effort to make a lasting difference in your community.”

In December, the Diversity Council hosted a pancake breakfast to help get more employees enthusiastic about contributing to United Way. Money raised through employee contributions helps provide up to $50,000 to the Bucks County community for housing, food, training and heating assistance for adults, children and the elderly.

In addition, the Diversity Council has volunteered at the Trenton Soup Kitchen and partnered with the YWCA to donate school bags filled with supplies to over 200 underprivileged area students.

ASI is a United Way Partner Company and its ongoing financial support helps United Way touch one in five Bucks County residents each year. In addition, ASI is recognized as a “Spirit of Bucks” company for donating corporate gifts of over $10,000 on an annual basis.

United Way of Bucks County (UW Bucks) is a volunteer-led, nonprofit organization that determines and addresses the greatest needs in Bucks County through initiatives like Bucks Knocks Out Hunger, Success By 6 and Bucks County Women’s Initiative, as well as by funding programs at dozens of local nonprofit agencies.
