ASI Magazines Win Five More National Awards For Excellence

Publications also score 13 regional awards in competitive B-to-B editorial contest

TREVOSE, PA – June 26, 2020 – The Advertising Specialty Institute® today announced that ASI magazines won five more national Azbee Awards of Excellence and 13 regional awards in one of the nation’s largest and most competitive editorial contests.

Among the honors, Counselor® magazine was awarded a national Gold award for its annual Power 50 issue recognizing the major players in the promotional products industry. Counselor, which also won two bronze awards, is edited by C.J. Mittica (@CJ_ASIEditor)‏.

The awards recognized ASI’s editorial expertise across a variety of categories in both print and digital. Winning entries included the Counselor State of the Industry and special 65th anniversary issues and Advantages’ monthly Sales Boost section and its annual State and Regional Sales Report.

Gold

  • Group Profile, for the Counselor 2019 Power 50 issue, awarded to Michele Bell; Joan Chaykin, managing editor; John Corrigan, senior writer; Karen O’Malley, director of awards; and Christopher Ruvo, executive editor.

Silver

Bronze

  • Print, Regular Department, for the Advantages Sales Boost series, awarded to Sara Lavenduski, senior editor, and Monica Guzman, senior designer. This monthly section provides sales advice and insights on market trends from promotional products distributors and outside experts.
  • Data Journalism, for Counselor 2019 State of the Industry issue, awarded to Counselor staff. The annual report is used as a business benchmark for industry members throughout the year and serves as a barometer of the promo market’s health and an analysis of predictive trends.
  • Print, Single Topic Coverage by a Team, for Counselor’s 65th Anniversary issue, awarded to Counselor staff. The special print and online commemorative issue included a detailed look at how the industry has changed over the years, “People of the Decade” feature, a Q&A with ASI Chairman Norman Cohn, historic photos, fun facts and a forecast for the future of the market.

ASBPE represents more than 2,000 journalists for business-to-business publications. This year, more than 1,000 entries were received, and more than 75 editors and designers judged the 63 categories of entries. ASI publications competed alongside magazines like Architect and Computerworld.
