ASI Recruiting Member Companies For Industry’s 2019 Summer Intern Program

ASI provides industry interns with free online training, access to ESP® and chance at scholarship

TREVOSE, PA – April 24, 2019 – The Advertising Specialty Institute® (ASI) today announced its fourth annual summer internship program is now open to any member company in the promotional products industry, providing free online training, access to ESP® and a chance for interns to win a $1,000 scholarship.

The 2019 ASI Summer Internship Program is free to ASI members who hire one or more interns to work at their company for the summer. Click here for more information or to register an intern.

Last summer, a record 308 interns worked at 240 supplier and distributor companies, including Gemline (asi/56070), HALO Branded Solutions (asi/356000), Proforma (asi/300094), Lion Circle (asi/67620) and TSMGI (asi/341232). Interns attended schools like Stanford, UC Berkeley and Hofstra.

Hiring an intern helps companies gain brand advocates, get fresh ideas, enjoy an extra set of hands and create a talent pipeline for future hiring. It also helps the industry teach a new generation about promotional products.

“Every year, we receive tremendous feedback on the program from summer interns as well as managers at participating companies,” said Timothy M. Andrews, ASI’s president and chief executive officer. “The best way to ensure our industry grows with the times is to interest more young people in pursuing an exciting, creative career in promotional products. While earning valuable work experience, interns help teach all of us what younger buyers want and the best way to reach them while showing us new ways of doing business. It’s win-win all around.”

ASI provides each intern with:

  • Free ESP® access for distributor interns and ESP Updates for supplier interns for the summer
  • ASI Welcome Kit of promotional items (suppliers interested in sponsoring can click here)
  • Invitation to ASI Show Chicago and ASI Roadshows (travel expenses not included)
  • Webinar education series providing an industry overview
  • Digital subscriptions to ASI’s magazines
  • Certificate of internship completion

Plus, three participating interns will also be awarded a $1,000 scholarship from ASI for writing a winning essay about their summer work experience. Click here to read 2018’s winning essays.

New this year, thanks to suggestions from interns, ASI is providing more educational webinars on improving communication and customer service skills and training in ESP. Interns unable to travel to ASI’s annual Chicago trade show can experience a live event by visiting any ASI Roadshow located near their town.

Below are testimonials from participating interns:

  • “I’ve learned invaluable life skills I could not learn anywhere else, and now I know what I want to do for the rest of my life.”
  • “I feel satisfaction knowing that our team was able to help someone give back to their customers through amazing promotional items.”
  • “Interning was a very rewarding experience that I will take with me into my future endeavors, hopefully coming back to the company as a full-time employee one day.”

Since ASI started its internship program in 2016 to attract more young professionals to the industry and to expose them to the power of promotional products, nearly 600 interns have participated.
