Ohio-based Proforma Albrecht & Co. tops 2012 list of happiest,
hippest ad specialty companies
TREVOSE, PA – September 10, 2012 – Superior communication, clever incentive programs and even traveling trophy coolers highlight the corporate cultures found in the 85 companies on Counselor® magazine’s 2012 list of best places to work in the ad specialty industry.
The list appears in the September issue of Counselor, the “voice” of the $18.5 billion promotional products industry. The Neal Award-winning magazine is published by the Advertising Specialty Institute® (ASI). To devise its list, Counselor surveyed over 4,000 employees of ad specialty companies with at least 10 employees. In addition to key entitlements, respondents considered fun factors like hot wing eating contests and push-up clubs.
The number-one “Best Place to Work” in the fifth annual issue is Proforma Albrecht & Co. (asi/116308). The Ohio company, in business 45 years, rose from number two on last year’s list. Proforma Albrecht & Co. boasts an employee retention rate of 100% and a founding philosophy “to build our company one great person at a time.” Owners Fred and Suzette Albrecht firmly believe in incentive plans to energize their workforce and credit employees for the company’s continued double-digit growth.

“As Counselor editors crisscrossed the country visiting many of the companies on this year’s list, they were continually amazed by the diversity of creative corporate cultures they discovered,” said Timothy M. Andrews, president and chief executive officer of ASI. “For many companies, happiness is now a job requirement on par with great benefits and a 401k, something rewarded in spades by loyalty and hard work.”
The list of 85 is a mix of large and small, geographically diverse companies identified by an in-depth survey process. To create the list, Counselor partnered with third-party research firm Quantum Workplace, which conducts Best Places to Work contests in more than 40 major cities, including Boston, Dallas, Miami, New York, San Francisco and Seattle.
ASI publishes eight catalogs and five magazines in addition to the Successful Promotions™ Trend Report e-newsletter. ASI publications have won 70 recent editorial awards, including three Jesse H. Neal Awards, considered the Pulitzer Prize of the business press.
