Brady Tops NFL Merch Sales Rankings

The seven-time Super Bowl winner is the current reigning Super Bowl MVP.

Tom Brady has won again.

Yes, the Super Bowl, of course.

But we’re not talking about that. We’re talking about branded merchandise.

As with seemingly all competitions involving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and now seven-time Super Bowl winner, Brady came out atop a list that ranked National Football League (NFL) players with the highest grossing licensed merch sales.

Tom Brady Tampa jersey

Tom Brady’s jersey has been a hot seller.

Second place? Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, who also finished runner-up to Brady in this year’s Super Bowl.

The merch rankings come courtesy of the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA). They represent player-branded swag sales between March 1 and Nov. 30, 2020. The NFLPA says its Top 50 list is the only verified ranking of all officially licensed, NFL player branded merchandise.

Accounting for online and traditional retail outlets as reported by more than 80 NFLPA licensees, the rankings result from sales of products that include game jerseys, T-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, backpacks, wall decals, pennants, collectible figures, bobbleheads, plushies, drinkware, pet products, trading cards and more.

Quarterback is the marquee position in football, and not surprisingly, eight of the top 10 players with the most merch sales play that position. The exceptions were San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (ninth) and Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (sixth).

In what’s yet another laurel leaf for the 43-year-old Brady’s merch crown, retailer/NFL licensee Fanatics noted that his swag sales for the two-week period leading up to the Super Bowl broke records and became the best ever for that annual 14-day run-up to the big game.

Here are the NFLPA’s Top 15 players with the best merch sales:

1. Tom Brady, Buccaneers
2. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
3. Lamar Jackson, Ravens
4. Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins
5. Joe Burrow, Bengals
6. Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys
7. Russell Wilson, Seahawks
8. Aaron Rodgers, Packers
9. George Kittle, 49ers
10. Cam Newton, Patriots
11. Dak Prescott, Cowboys
12. Josh Jacobs, Raiders
13. Josh Allen, Bills
14. Julian Edelman, Patriots
15. Baker Mayfield, Browns
