Hong Kong's Mega Show Highlights New Promo Items

Held at the Hong Kong Convention Center this week, Kenfair's 24th annual Mega Fair Part One attracted more than 50,000 international buyers ‎from 125 countries to see the latest offerings from 3,500 exhibitors occupying more than 5,000 booths.

Products trends continued to show an emphasis on recycled materials such as bags made from corn and pens made from reclaimed wood. Other trends noticed at the show by Counselor’s editors: electronics such as personal speakers now the size of a quarter, and health and wellness items like fitness tracking devices which are expanding to include such products as necklaces and rings, in addition to the more ubiquitous silicone bracelets.

One item that drew attendees' attention: "Grass covered” smartphone cases, which can be imprinted with a debossed logo as, for example, a mini football field and used as fan giveaways for events.

Product safety and social compliance were also clearly on the minds of buyers, as more exhibitors than ever prominently hung copies of their ISO certifications in their booths. And in a nod to emerging global manufacturing hubs, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Turkey all hosted pavilions housing multiple exhibitors. ‎

‎Next year's Mega Fair in Hong Kong will be held at the end of October.
