Clothing to the Rescue
Supplement to this month's feature 9-1-1: Industry First Responders
Earlier this year, Image Masters (asi/230071) collected several truckloads of clothing for the local Merced Rescue Mission. "Donations had been way down at the mission, largely due to the recession," says Holly Lourenco, sales and marketing coordinator for the company.
"We wanted to give people an incentive to donate to the mission, and we offered a free sweatshirt that read, 'Pay It Forward' to people who donated gently used clothing," she says.
Image Masters promoted the clothing drive on Facebook, and a local radio station advertised it. Lourenco received plenty of positive feedback from the Facebook posting. "People were sharing it with their friends, which made the turnout so amazing" she says. "The Rescue Mission was overjoyed."
The company gave about 100 sweatshirts to donors when they brought the clothes into Image Masters' showroom.
